City Love: A New York Engagement

The girl knew what she was talking about. The city thrives off of spontaneity. There is a certain magic in the air. No really, it really starts in the air.....each and every trip. From the moment I spot the city skyline, even 30,000 feet above.....my heart rate elevates. I get giddy. I suddenly feel free. There is something about this city. Maybe it is the sound of sirens that serve as a lullaby and soothe you to sleep. It is the way that you can miss your train, make the next one, find out there is a detour that takes you 1/2 way around the city, then it starts pouring....and you realize you forgot your umbrella.....you know, one of those days where it seems like the city is out to get you. The beauty of it all is that out of nowhere, your day from Nyc hell turns into the best day of your life. You meet someone who changes your life, offers you your dream job, or turns into your best friend. It is the one city where you are only one subway ride away from anything you can possibly imagine. Anything is possible. In the words of Miss Keys and Jay-Z, it is the "concrete jungle where dreams are made of....there's nothing you can't do." It is the city full of dreamers, and at the same time, the city that never sleeps. It is the city you can go to when you don't want anyone to know you, and the city you go to when you want everyone to know your name. Personally, it is the city I go to when I need to spark that certain something inside of me. The spark that awakens my soul, allows me to breathe a little deeper, and refreshes my outlook on life. There is something about walking around realizing how small I am in the big picture of things that sends me home feeling so big that there is not anything I can not conquer.

I have been meaning to post this blog for a while, so when I woke up this morning missing New York a little more than normal.....I knew I had to post it for the weekend. Meet Jim and Taryn. We stuck around the Upper East Side for their city session.....which I just happen to love. Jim works for the Apple store on 5th Avenue....which happened to be my first stop on this trip, and the place I purchased the MacBook Pro I am currently typing what you are reading from.

Jenn & Amaya - San Diego

365 days. 52 weeks. One trip around the sun. Another birthday. 12 months. Four Seasons Whatever measurement you use, it is all the same. There is so much that can change in one year, and yet so much that can stay the same. Your life takes you to places you never planned, introduces you to people who you may have underestimated just how large of a role they would actually play. In one year, people can move, they can meet someone who is their other half, they can become parents, and do things they never imagined they would be doing. Kids are one of those things that are always changing. No matter how much you wish they could remain that little baby you held in your arms, they seem to do one thing better than anything else....grow up entirely too fast. They are constantly learning, exploring questions and growing up a little every day. There are some things that don't change. I met Amaya and her mom, Jenn, last year when we did a beach photo session. In one year alone, Amaya has grown into quite the little lady. I could not believe how much she had grown since the year I saw her last. But some things remain....like the spirit this little girl has. She is spunky, full of charisma, and still has that same smile that could captivate an entire audience.

I have been spending quite a bit of time on the west coast and during one of my recent Cali visits, I made my way to San Diego for Amaya's yearly pictures. Thank you Jenn & Amaya for inviting me into your lives to capture the past two years for you. :)

We invited Amaya's cousin and Aunt along to snap a few while we were strolling around downtown San Diego. I see cute kids run in the fam! :)

We headed to the pier at sunset for a few more minutes of perfect, golden light and a sunset you have to see to believe.

The photo directly above on the right brought me right back to this moment one year ago....... (Check out more of Jenn and Amaya's blog from last year HERE.)

And I put Jenn to work too......we'll work on the weird focusing system I use on my next visit..... :) Amaya showed me her ballet moves and then I busted out some yoga moves of my own for Amaya.....had to get those cool points with the kiddo. :)

Laughter.

Did you know it is medically proven to benefit your health? True story. It releases these chemicals in your brain which actually reduce stress and tension. If you want to get all technical and stuff, it stimulates your immune system, adds endorphins into your body, and even reduces your blood pressure. Beyond the physical benefits, sharing a laugh also provides physiological benefits as well. It binds two people together and creates a synchronization between the two sharing the laugh that emotionally connects them. When you find that person that you can make you laugh as deep as you love them....hold onto them. This is the connection and love people spend a life looking for. The kind of intimacy and love that is so deeply rooted that you can have nothing and still know you have everything. The kind of love that leaves you spending the day lounging around on the couch and laughing until your stomach hurts. Sure the tv is on, but you have that one person in your arms who manages to steal every ounce of attention and turn your favorite sitcom into pure background noise. Lauren and Bobby kept me smiling and laughing all day. That is what is so special about laughing, it is contagious. The way these two can make everyone around them laugh, including each other, brings joy into the lives of everyone they touch, including my own.

Not to get all quote-ey on you, but e.e. cummings once said, "The most wasted day is the one with out laughter." Bobby & Lauren: I toast to your future together. Here's to sharing a lifetime together with life, love and laughter which forbids you to waste a single day of it. xo

The new Mr. & Mrs.

Lauren had about 3 hair changes! LOVED it! Birdcage veils are my fav! Then....to top it off she had top hats and canes for her groom and groomsmen! Have I mentioned I just adore this girl??!!

I could not get enough of these two!!!

Keep in mind, it was January, in Saint Louis. It was about 30 degrees this day. Lauren straight rocked out her pictures the entire time. Not ONE complaint from this little lady.....and it shows in the pics, she makes me forget how cold it really was!

*Secret Pointer for future winter brides, get little packets of the Hot Hands.....it will keep you and your bridesmaids hands warm.....Lauren had one stashed away by her bouquet.

Quite possibly one of my favorite shots of the day, no....ever.

Then we were off to the reception at Old Hickory Golf Course. Not only was the food far beyond superb (I am still salivating thinking about the Tenderloin Medallions with Cognac Sauce)......the customer service provided by this venue was unlike anything I have ever seen! The staff here went the extra mile to make sure that everything was perfect from the food to the decor to the candle placement. They did not want anyone to do anything besides simply enjoy themselves and celebrate the occasion.

One of my favorite moments of the day....their first dance. As "You and Me" played throughout the room, everyone else disappeared. They only had eyes for each other. I know there are so many different types of loves, but this is the only kind I want.

Raw. Consuming. Authentic. Genuine Bona fide love.

Haylee's First Year : 3 Months

As I introduced myself to Jessi and Steve on August 23rd during the sunrise at their Ripe Belly Session....I knew that they were going to make two proud parents to one little girl. It may have been my first time meeting the two of them, but they joy, excitement, and pride was exuding from their pores. Their smiles said it all. We captured Haylee's entire BirthStory (which you can check out at the bottom of this blog), and now we will be capturing all of her major milestones during this first year of her life.....starting with this 3 month session complete with frilly girly girl stuff, tutus, bows, headbands, lace, and pearls. Jessi and Steve definitely have quite the bundle of joy to be proud of. I can not wait to share her entire first year with you all! :)

Welcome: Itty Bitty Aidan

Chances are, if you are a female....at some point in your life you have watched an episode or two of Sex and the City. If you are anything like me.....you may have not only seen every episode, but can also re-inact every episode, randomly quote episodes and probably own the entire complete series that comes so perfectly in the bright pink, velvety box. If you are a guy, chances are even more likely that at some point in your life, if you have ever had a girlfriend, that girlfriend has some how made, convinced, pleaded, or bribed you to watch an episode of Sex and the City (Don't act like you didn't like it either).

Enter Aidan Shaw. He embodies the the perfect boyfriend. The type of man that every girl wants to marry and every mother wants to raise. I fell in love with him from the moment he made his first appearance in Season 3. Since then, I have LOVED that name!! When we walked into Meghan & Tim's home to shoot their Itty Bitty session and she proudly shared her baby boy's name, I could not help but flashback to Carrie Bradshaw's perfect boyfriend...and smile. Then I saw little Aidan, and his perfect little face and chubby little cheeks made it impossible not to fall in love at first shoot with this beautiful baby boy.

I met Madilyn's mom about six years ago. I was honored when she asked me to capture her BirthStory. I always knew she was going to have a girl, so it came as no surprise when she called me with the news....but when she shared the baby girl on the way's name, I could not help but smile. It's a name that holds a pretty near and dear place to my heart......a name that my niece shares (with just a little different spelling). Welcome to this big world Madilyn Grace. Big personalities come in little packages. Standing less than 3 feet tall, little Tilly packs the punch. Energy, sense of humor, a laugh that can make you melt, and an inquisitive fascination with the world around her. She radiates love. She shares this sunshine and happiness with everyone around her. When I think of her, I smile. What a beautiful quality to encompass. On behalf of everyone, thank you Tilly for bringing so much sunshine into my life. :)

I met Tilly last year after several chats with her mom about setting up her 18 month photo session. (Here is that session.) This was a session I had been looking forward to. Her mom, Jill, was totally down with making the session special, creative and perfectly fit to the personality that exudes from little Tilly. She was no different when it came to Tilly's 2 year Happy BirthDay session. She took the time to check out my Pinterest ideas and even added in some ideas of her own. We set up a full styled shoot in my loft. When I was choosing a space to live, I specifically chose this space because the abundance of natural light and open space....would make made a set-up like this possible. This is going to go down as one of my favorite shoots ever. Everything that we had talked about, planned up, and wanted was visually conveyed. :)

Welcome Itty Bitty Jack!

When a couple has a dog named after one of the most loved St. Louis Cardinals players ever to have played the game, started their engagement at their home away from home (Busch Stadium), and has the words "Take me out to the ballgame." engraved on the inside of their wedding bands.... you know one thing that they share a love for is Cardinals Baseball. I knew I wanted to incorporate that love into their new love's Announcement Design, which I just LOVE! I'm a sucker for blue eyes, but how perfect is he!!?!? :)

Ozzie was ready at any moment to step up and have some photos snapped! :)

Meet Luke.....and the LeLe Mascot......

First and foremost, I would like to introduce to the Laughlin's newest arrival....Mr. Luke!!! We were there to capture his big sis' BirthStory and 1st year. This family has grown near, dear and close to my heart. If you happen to find yourself in the Labor and Delivery department at St. John's, and you are lucky enough to have Lesley as your nurse, you will see how easy it is to fall in love with her and her entire family. Sweet, kind, funny, and always there to girl talk with. :) Congrats on your beautiful baby boy!!! For her birth announcement, we designed a nice little combo of a Christmas Card and Birth Announcement.

And now.......a little behind the scenes action of my baby.....ZOEY, also known as, the zoe-ster, zoe-zoe, zoe-cifer, BOO-BOOOOO, zsa-zsa....well the list goes on and on. It is hard for me to believe she will be 6 on Christmas Eve. I guess she is a little used to having the camera pointed in her face. It is to the point where she will sit exactly where I tell her to, lay her head down when I say, "sleep like a baby." and even falls asleep during the shoot.....seriously...Here are some I could not NOT post.......I may be a little biased...but how cute is she!!??!

Fate, Destiny, Meant to be, Luck....whatever you call it....I believe in the possibility that there may be a predetermined course to the future. Sure, things may change, get in the way, or life may not work out the way you thought it may....but when it comes down to it....if something is meant to be, it finds a way.

I also believe in photography fate. I just made that term up, but sometimes, just sometimes....it is almost as if the stars align and photography perfection happens in such a way that it sends chills down your spine. Photography fate happened on the afternoon I showed up to shoot Sara and Jared's engagement session. As we drove around to find the perfect spot to begin shooting.....I see it, I hear it basically screaming my name. It is not every day that you see an abandoned old pick up truck....oh yeah....a green one left in a field.....during sunset, none the less! We parked the car....and then it happened. Magic. Love. Love. Love. this set of images.

A big thank you to Jared for not looking at me like I was totally crazy when I asked him to grab the furniture in his living room and bring it with us for the shoot. :)

Sara and Jared will be tying the knot in Riviera Maya next May!!!! They blew me away at their e-session, so I am certain they will leave people speechless as they exchange their vows overlooking the ocean!

Amy & Marshall: Headed to the Chapel

I met Amy at our initial bridal consult, and I knew I loved this girl! Her smile beaming from across the coffee shop gave me a pretty strong inclination that this was the girl I was meeting with to talk wedding. My inclination was right. She knew all about our past clients, their wedding details, and all about me. I tend to blog several personal stories. Certain blogs leave you feeling a little vulnerable. You pour your heart out onto your computer screen and never know who is at the other end of the spectrum reading you most intimate feelings, stories, and words. When I was able to put a face to the wonder of who actually reads what I write, I immediately felt at ease. It seemed as if I had known her forever. She knew all about how I quit my full time icky desk job to pursue photography, she knew about the worst day of my life, and some of the best moments I will never forget. She left that meeting a LeLe Bride and a new friend. We started emailing back and forth about planning the engagement session. We knew we were going for an urban theme, with some Cardinals baseball in the mix.

One of my favorite websites EVER is Pinterest. It is a creative girl's heaven! Tons of crafting ideas, photo shoot ideas galore, and inspiration. So when I sent her the links for some ideas, and asked her thoughts....her response was, "I'm not crafty. I work in a hospital.....I live vicariously through Pinterest." I still find myself laughing at that comment. She was down for whatever suggestions I threw her way...which I LOVE! :) I have to disagree with the crafty comment though, Amy.....I loved the save the date sign you made! So cute!! And sparkle-ey, even better! :)

Sneak Peek Ripe Bellies

I would like to share a sneak peek of two of the BirthStories I am currently working on... First up, Stacey and John. :) I loved Stacey within about 20 seconds of her welcoming me into her home. She is bright like the sun and just being around her makes you feel good. John told me how much he liked our BirthStories and how he can't watch them with the music because they make him... well he just doesn't like to. I love the excitement John had about his baby. Usually guys are pretty quiet about their unborn babies, but not John. He was overflowing with love and happiness and wonder of what was to come.

Next up... Krissy and Kenny. Upon walking into their beautiful home the room immediately to my eye. I LOVE their style! They also have a HUGE Disney collection that we definitely put to use! You will see that later in their BirthStory. Krissy's elation overflowed for her baby on the way! It is such a blessing and honor to capture the journey of couples becoming a families.

Family from the Picture Frame

Have you ever taken the time to notice that family, the smile of that nameless person that fills up the picture frame before you buy it. That family that is so picture perfect? That is all I could think as I spent the morning capturing Renee and her family's pictures. Sure enough, each child that hopped out of their backseat was as adorable as the last! It almost took my breath away, as I said, "You have SUCH a beautiful, beautiful family." Oh....it gets better.......she has some of the most well behaved children I have ever had the honor to capture. They listen, they are respectful, they are funny, they are smart, and they listened to every word of direction their parents or myself gave them. I actually wrote her after the session to applaud their parenting skills. I actually met Renee when I was capturing a Labor and Delivery. She was the doc performing the c-section. She had this cool, calm and easy demeanor about her. She had one of the best bedside manners I have ever seen from a doctor. Well....basically Renee.....you and your entire family blew me away. I absolutely loved meeting each and every one of you!

11:11: It's in the Numbers. 2 Sneak Peeks!

When I hear November and Saint Louis in the same sentence, I think frigid weather, darkness that tricks you into thinking it is 9pm when in fact it is really 5pm, and bare trees. This year has proven my preconceived November stereotypes to be far from the truth.....which I do not mind whatsoever! This November has brought temperatures you could not have asked to be any more perfect, trees painted in leaves that looked as if they were on fire. Burnt oranges, Deep reds, and every shade of yellow in between, all ingredients for sheer perfection and the type of wedding weather brides dream of. I am beginning to think my new lucky number should be 11. This has been the year of 11's. Cardinals winning their 11th World Series Championship in 2011. The 11th month of 2011providing some of the most perfect days my brides could have asked for.

This picture is especially special, near and dear to Aaron's heart. He was so happy and proud to have his two military buddies, more like his brothers by his side on the happiest day of his life. This one is for you boys!

Meet Jeff & Michele. Longtime friends of mine. Jeff owns RinaWear Clothing Company and Michele is a Hair Stylist. Both have that creative and artistic eye....and they are ALWAYS fun. They have always been interested in photography. I did their BirthStory, and we talked cameras pretty much the entire time. They have since started doing videography....and Awkward Moments Productions was born. Our combined senses of humor, personalities and creativity makes we excited for every wedding we do together.

Yesterday we celebrated with Susan and Chad as they began their lives as man and wife. I have known Susan going on about 12 years now. Last October, I was there shooting her little brother's wedding. I met her boyfriend, Chad. As we indulged in our usual girl talk....she could not hide the smile gleaming ear to ear as she said this is the man she was going to marry. These two never settled for anything less than the real thing and go to show that when you meet that one person who makes you feel the way you didn't know was realistically possible, you will know. Words can not begin to express how thankful and blessed I felt to share in this day with Susan. The moment she first slipped her dress on to the moments before she walked down the aisle, I felt nothing but love and happiness for you and the man that loves you so perfectly. I can NOT wait to share more from this beautiful November wedding day.

Susan incorporated her love and infatuation that began as a child with The Wizard of Oz into her wedding. Including the ruby red slippers.

My absolute, most favorite, make me swoon flower is a peony. I am not sure what it is about them....but they can bring up that fluttering feeling of happiness every time I see them. They are springtime flowers, and pretty hard to get in the fall. Susan, knowing that these are my absolute fave could NOT wait to surprise me with what Sisters Flowers was able to get in especially for her day.....PEONIES!!! You never cease to amaze me, Sisters!! :)

We made a special stop before the reception at Ted Drewes. They have their annual Christmas Tree lot up right now. Something about the holidays, but it brings out that romantic/things are better together feeling. Thank you, Ted Drewes, for having us and OF COURSE for the best, most famous frozen custard around! :)

Thank you Jenn, Aaron, Chad and Susan for giving me that much more to be thankful for during these holidays! I love you all.

Happy 1st Birthday!

Happy Black Friday everyone! Hope you are all getting your shop on, finding the best deals, and not getting trampled along the way! Rather than spending my favorite morning to shopping amidst the crowds, I will be shooting a wedding today!! But first.....I wanted to share this family session with you! This little man had the golden birthday of all birthdays. He turned one on 11/11/11. We started off at their house, and then went down the street to finish up his birthday session. I pulled up to a spot I thought would be perfect, and said follow me! As we began shooting, they informed me that we were in the EXACT spot where they had their first date. During that exciting, getting to know each other, falling in love stage...the two of them sat in the very spot that I had picked out. Although now they were two parents trying to make sure their child did not run thru a thorny bush....they were still that in love couple that they were back then.... +1. :)

Sometimes I stay up too late working......but on nights like tonight, it is understandable. I have been piecing together not one, not two. but three LeLe BirthStories. I couldn't work this hard this late and not share a little sneak peek with you all.......

1st. Meet Ashley and Jake. I can NOT wait to share their story with you. I felt like Ashley had been my long lost best friend within talking to her for hmmm....about 30 seconds! :) I am blessed because this couple came into my life.

2. I would not have met Jake and Ashley with out Diane. If this family looks familiar, that is because we captured their first BirthStory with Marni and her 1st Birthday Pictures. Oh....and she happens to be Ashley's doctor who also happens to be a doctor herself. :)

3rd: Meet Jessii and Steve. I knew I would love them the moment Jessii let me know she was totally down with my idea for a sunrise Maternity session. That's right, we woke up this summer and met up at 6:30am, and captured the entire sunrise for their Ripe Belly Session.

Very rarely do you meet someone who has it all. Meet Katie. She has looks that make me feel like she stepped out of the pages of Vogue. Beautiful Blonde hair. The biggest brown eyes. A smile that can make your day. She is the total package, and can turn every head in the room. Then you talk to her, and it does not take very much to see that she has a heart of gold to match the looks. Caring and loving. More than anything, genuine. During the toasts, I remember asking myself to describe Katie in one word. Genuine was the one word that I kept going back to. No joke, her maid of honor began describing Katie to those who may not be as close to her with one word....Genuine.

On the morning of Katie and Danny's wedding we entered her parents dreamlike cabin and immediately were hugged and welcomed. I see where Katie gets her graciousness from. Her family is just as lovely as her. I take it as a sign that your client likes you when they try to set you up with a family member. So when Katie started telling me that she was going to set me up with her brother before she even had her dress on, I took this as the biggest form of flattery she could have given. :)

Katie and Danny: I absolutely adore you, the families you came from, your love and everything you two represent. I have never felt the emotion I could feel and the love I felt amidst all of the guests during your wedding ceremony. It was quite apparent how many people you are truly loved by. LeLe included. Thank you.

Katie and Danny met in high school. I remember asking her if that "I love you" and in love love feeling is just as strong. There is nothing better than falling in love and having that feeling which only that one person can ignite in you. I asked her this, because after 10 years of dating, I could see that same spark that I see in couples who just started dating. She looked at him, and I could see he is her world. He looks at her with eyes full of adoration. They flirt. They love. They give each other their all. Her response to my question was simple, direct, and full of conviction she looked me straight in the eyes and said, "He is my best friend. I think I fall in love with him more everyday. I find something new that I love all of the time."

If you could go back to your wedding day, knowing now how the day went, is there anything you would change or suggest to other brides? The day flys by, so be sure and take time outs to soak it all in- one minute you're getting your hair done, the next minute you're dancing the night away with your husband- its incredible how fast it happens. And be sure to relax- everything will be perfect- you're marrying your best friend :)

What were your top 3 favorite moments/memories from your wedding day? Seeing my dad tear up when he saw me for the first time, my first look at the reception all decorated, and the best moment of all was walking down the aisle to marry my best friend.

Last words on the LeLe experience: You made us feel so comfortable- like we'd been friends forever- and it really shows through in our pictures. We love your energy and spontaneity. We had so much fun with you both and highly recommend you to anyone and everyone.

One year ago I met this family. They were a family of three. I captured little Miss Ava as she laughed, played, and made frozen yogurt treats with her mom and dad. As their car pulled up for their family session this year, there was an extra car seat. I met Ava's little brother. He was quite the ham for the camera. It was as if he was mesmerized by the camera lens. His big blue eyes, blonde, blonde hair, and smile that never faded had my finger never leaving the shutter. I could not capture enough or get enough him or hearing Ava call me "Miss Ashley" over and over again. Miss Ashley!? Seriously, how cute is that!? I love seeing my LeLe babies grow up before my lens. Amy even told me a few weeks after the session that in every picture Ava now poses WITH her hand on her hip. My job here is done! :)

Thank you Guckes family for being exactly who you are and giving me yet another reason to fall in love with my job day in and day out. :)

The Stank Eye. In case you didn't know....now you do. It looks a little something like this. Ava taught me all about it. :) I think the tears started I was laughing so hard.

Billy & Meg: Engaged

The gentle giant. We have all heard of him. Well I would like to introduce you to him. Better known to me as Billy. I met Billy when I was looking for a personal trainer at my gym. Billy was brave enough to train me and my sister....at the same time. We kept him laughing and he kept us straight workin on our fitness, he's our witness....sorry, had to break out into a little Fergie there. I met Billy before his entire life changed. This life changing day was the day Meg entered his life. I saw true happiness in this boys eyes. He was planning romantic dates and any and every way that he could sweep this little lady off of her feet. Let me give you a better picture of this couple: Billy is 6'5" Meg is probably about 5'4" give or take a few inches (sorry if I am so off on your height, Meg!!) :) Billy towers over Meg. He is a personal trainer, totally buff, and is probably the last guy in a lineup that you would want to be thrown in a fight with....but the thing is, he is as sweet, kind, and gentle as can be when it comes to taking care of his lady, Meg. He opens doors, picks her up, makes sure he can do everything in his power to keep her beaming that beauty queen-esque smile of hers. He truly cherishes everything that she encompasses.

This is one wedding that I am BEYOND excited for. Vintage, Soft, Classy Theme. And the reception will be hosted at none other than my fav. spot, The Four Seasons. Oh....ANDDDD Meg owns Meka Boutique. Ladies, if you have never shopped here, may I suggest that you get there and ask for Meg! She will be your personal stylist and send you home with some fall pieces that will make you wonder how you lived with out.

We decided to do a fall engagement session and go to some of their favorite spots. We headed to Kirkwood so we could start at Kaldi's, which happens to be one of their favorite places to just kick back and relax on the Sundays they have off together.

I have always been a fan of cute and clever T's. So you know I was loving this set.....

And finishing up our Sunday Session at the same place where Meg and Billy had their first date....Coldstone Creamery. "That's how I roll." You know I had to get a shot of that!

Yo. Check it. You are the sail to my boat. The haribo to my gummy bear. The grilled cheese to my taco. The extra shot of espresso to my Starbucks skinny cinnamon dolce latte. The faux to my giving. The H to my M. The tree pose to my scavenger hunt. The 5th bucket of ice to my Four Seasons room service call. The lost iPhone to every good night that we are "not going to stay out late".

From two miles away to two hours away. It does not matter. When it comes to friendships or any other relationship, if it is worth it, you make time for it, period. Otherwise, you make excuses. In March, my best friend moved from one exit away to one state away. I miss her daily. Our Monday nights sitting at her house watching HotRod and making strawberry milk.

They say that you have a twin out there. Sometimes in life you are lucky to meet that one person. Your soul mate. Your other half. The one that knows your thoughts, no words needed. The one that you wish you could have met sooner, because all of those years before suddenly make you feel like you were missing out on something. That something is a person, and this person reminds you of your best when you feel your worst. When something happens, this is the first person you call. You share in the excitement and are genuinely happy for their good news. When it comes to the real life stuff that leaves your heart crushed, this is the one person that can simply make it better, even when there is not a single word spoken. Their presence alone reassures you that you are not alone. This is the person who shares so many inside jokes with you, that when other people are around, they begin to think there may be something wrong with you. Then you can not help but to laugh that much harder as you think to yourself, "Wow. We are funny."

This is the one person who could blackmail you with the worst, but instead, brings out the best.

The person you would trust your life with, and give your life for.

This person is my best friend, Traci. Today is her 30th Birthday. I was lucky enough to meet her the day she walked into my yoga class. I thought to myself, "Ummm....who is this girl!? She is good!!" That one class turned into every single class. She had a spot directly to my left. Everyone knew that was her spot too. Trust me, they all knew better than to go in "traci's spot". OKKKURRR. I never knew that my life was about to change that day. That's the funny thing about life. Everything happens for a reason, even when you are not wise enough to see why at the time.

I'm going to try to keep this short and sweet. Traci, I wish you could see yourself how I see you. I wish for this year to be everything you deserve, because in my opinion, you deserve it all: the world, the moon and the stars and every sea to sail your boat on.

Here's to not only a new year, but a new era. The 20's will not hold a flame to what we are about to experience in our 30's. Here's to 365 more days of adventures, LIVING, "getting awesome", travels, moments, memories, inside jokes, Lonely Island skits, looking up necessary life lessons on YouTube, giving out business cards, drive-bys, and most importantly knowing with out a doubt that whatever life tries to throw our way, we are not alone. We are in this together.

Engaged.Lauren & Bobby: St. Louis Zoo

From the moment I met Lauren, I knew this was my kind of girl! Their wedding is going to be the epitome of fun. She is not afraid of having a January wedding. Her details and surprises she has planned for her guests have me anticipating one of the coldest months of the year. As soon as she told me the theme of her wedding is "fun", I knew she was our girl! :) The engagement session was nothing less than I expected. We went right to where Bobby popped the question, The St. Louis Zoo. This has been a location I have been wanting to shoot at for QUITE a while! There are TONS of spots inside of this zoo! We do have one of the best zoos in the country, so why not showcase it a little! If you have a family session coming up, I think this is a perfect shoot location! :) Here are some of my favorites of a couple very much in love.

We walked thru the zoo and went to the exact spot where Bobby proposed. I kid you not, at that moment the golden light hit and it could not have been any more perfect!!! Bobby let me know he had that in mind and planned when he proposed a year ago. lol :) Thank you Bobby, because lighting like this is something I APPRECIATE!

I mean really!? It is official. If you two ever decide to have a mini-me....your child would with out a doubt have the prettiest eyes ever. Just sayin.....

Bet you never noticed all of these spots last time you were at the Zoo. :)

The couple that laughs together, stays together. If there is one thing I always fall for, it is a sense of humor. There is nothing better than being able to laugh at yourself and laugh along with the person you love. A good sense of humor goes a long way. When I had Lauren and Bobby cross the street, they busted out their best dance moves.....awww yeahhhh.......

Meet the Hendrix's: Jason & Jenny

The room was full of excitement. I could feel the anticipation through the bridesmaids smiles. The dress, the flower for Jenny's hair, the pale pink Peony-esque bouquets, the St. Louis Cardinal cuff links.....all of these details added up to one thing.....a wedding that I could NOT wait to shoot. There was more than details to take pictures of, there was a love that was ready to be documented. A love shared between Jason and Jenny. I witnessed it at the engagement session, and they took it to an entirely new level on this day. I feel like good things happen to good people, and being in love has never looked so good on two people. Congrats on the start of your new lives together.

Moments after the first look. :) LOVE THESE!!

I may not know what it is like to be married. I may not know what it is like to be a mom. These are all moments that I see every day. I am there to capture the emotion, the moments, the experience, the way it does feel to go through these milestone moments. I may have never actually experienced those things, but if there is one thing that I do understand, it is having the type of relationship that Jenny has with her mother. In Jenny's own words, her mother is her everything, she is her rock. She chose to have her mother to walk her down the aisle. I am always in the back with the bride moments before she walks down the aisle. It is one of my favorite moments of the day. I could not help but think about what was going thru their minds at this very moment. I saw the way that Jenny's mom looked at her, eyes bursting with adoration. The little girl that she raised, gave her everything to, and shaped into the young lady that she was obviously so very, very proud of. I may have never had any of these big life experiences yet, but before those church doors opened up, all I could envision my own mother. My own rock. The one person who is solely responsible for showing me what it really is to selflessly love someone. If the day comes when I do decide to get married, I pray I am lucky enough to have a moment that looks something like this moment between Jenny and her own mother.

Hands down one of my favorite moments of the day. Jason and Jenny's wedding was on a very special day. Jason's grandfather's birthday. You know how some old men are just cute? Well his grandfather takes the cake for one of the sweetest, kindest, and big hearted kind of guy that everyone wishes was their grandpa kind of guy. I could see how much it meant to him the moment that Jason picked up the mic and began telling the room full of people what this man has meant to him. As they brought out this special birthday cake, I could see Grandma with her hankie as she wiped her eyes. These are the moments that make everyone either miss their grandparents or realize how lucky they are to still have them around.

Having the best photographers ever! Not only are you guys amazing at capturing moments but you were my personal assistant all day as well and I greatly appreciate it. From my makeup to dress and wedding veil to wine; you girls did it all and it made the day just that much more enjoyable.

Behind the Lens Action...

In case you didn't know, Alicea is also a hairdresser. Pretty handy to have someone who can touch up your makeup, your hair, fix your veil, the list goes on and on....on your Big day! :) She also did Jenny's makeup and an updo for her in between outfits at the Engagement session!

Oh....and one little thing I forgot to mention, I had to go to the hospital a week before their wedding for my ankle. Apparently, I had two major tears in the ligaments in my ankle. No big deal....I just grabbed my newest accessory....the Boot...and rocked it out! :)

Whirlwind of Wedding Weekends :The Sneak Peek of all Sneak Peeks

Have no fear, I am still here. I have not seen or talked to many of my friends and family....but there is good reasoning.....I have been jam, packed, super slammed, ridiculously busy shooting weddings. Weekend after weekend, my couples never cease to amaze me. They humble me time and time again. Each week, I go home thanking my lucky stars that I not only had the chance to show up and use the tool that allows me to convey the love I feel shared between a couple on such a big day into a documented moment and memory that evokes that emotion and instantaneously brings them back to that exact moment. I have spent this year investing all of me, my heart and my time into my love of documenting days like the ones below. In return, I wake up each day feeling fulfilled and my life is forever sweeter.

Mr. GQ! What, what!?

Oh I'm not stopping there. There's more! Meet Devon and Joe. They rented out Busch Stadium for their engagement session. I knew after a session like that, this was going to be a fun couple. My intuition usually does not let me down. This couple, their friends, and their family was the epitome of fun. They know how to have a good time. Once again, we could not have asked for a more beautiful day for a wedding. :)

Meet Jake and Ashley. It seems like just yesterday we met with Jake and Ashley to talk wedding planning. After we met the two of them, we ended up doing a BirthStory for not only one, but both of Jake's brothers. By the time the wedding day arrived, I seriously felt like I knew the entire family. Meet Bradford and Ebony. They ROCKED out their e-session a few months ago. Just when I thought I would have no idea how we would top that....we had their wedding day, and I was blown away. Love never looked so good. Ebony was a vision. Bradford could not keep his eyes off of her, and I do not think anyone else in the room could either. Beautiful.

Last weekend we were there for Christina and Josh as they started their lives together. I could NOT stop taking pictures of Christina.....she rocked out every look, every pose, and her "laugh out loud"....well I'll share that story on the full blog. :) I have actually known Christina since we were in high school. Being there and entrusted to capture these emotional, special, and most intimate, happiest moments is something I do not take for granted and means the world to me. Congrats you two, and I hope you enjoy every single day of your Honeymoon this week! xoxoxo

Meet the Aldys: Jess and Andy

Once upon a time, a man looked into his bride's eyes as he vowed to take her as his wife. This once upon a time is no fairytale. The year was 1949. The groom promised the words that so many people have recited to the one person they choose to spend their life with.

To have and to hold.

For better or for worse.

For richer, for poorer.

In sickness and in health.

To love and cherish from this day forward.

For all the days of my life.

The love they shared turned into a marriage that united this man and woman into a family. They promised all the days of their lives. These days turned into years. They gave all of themselves to their marriage, and in return, the marriage gave them a lifetime of memories, commitment, laughs, tears, joy, lessons, new traditions, and children to share it all with. Their children gave them grandchildren to spoil, love, teach, and show what it means to spend your life with someone. The man that married his bride in 1949 was Jess' Grandpa. He loved his bride and stayed true to his vows for 62 years. All of the days of his life.

There is no doubt in my mind that this love inspired and taught through demonstration what a marriage is. Jess heard the giddiness in Grandma's voice and saw the tears well up in her eyes on the day she told her that the day she would recite the same vows that Grandpa once promised her was none other than their wedding anniversary. Such a symbolic gesture to honor the love that has molded Jess into who she is simply by showing what love really is, what it can be, and how sweet it is to commit your life to the one you love. As Jess stood at the altar, and Grandma sat in the front row, I can not help but picture Grandpa smiling down at the beautiful, stunning bride standing there all because two people fell in love.

I am a firm believer that in this life, there are no coincidences. Things happen for a reason, even if we are not wise enough to know why at the time. I do not claim to be a videographer, but while shooting weddings, sometimes I randomly decided to videotape moments. No rhyme or reason, just a little something extra that I do if a moment is standing out to me. After I wrote the main part of this blog (everything above this paragraph), I started watching the video clips that I had shot from the day. Chills shot down my spine, and I knew at that moment, the story I told is exactly what I was meant to write and this moment I decided to hit record on was no coincidence. I was meant to record this moment for them, for Jess' parents, and for Jess' grandparents.

I mean seriously.....You are a vision, Jess. :) Beautiful!

I love grey suits at weddings!!

It is tradition for Grandpa to sing this German song at the weddings. I can not tell you what in heck he sang the entire time as the crowd cheered him on.....but it was a moment I will never forget.

This couple knows how to party. They know how to laugh. They know how to make the most out of each moment. Having the LeLe UnScripted PhotoBooth was PERFECT for them!!!

I would give anything to have a picture of me and my brother dancing like this. One of my favorite shots of the night...

Same Day Slideshow time! The looks below is why I do what I do. These moments that can evoke such emotion and joy in my brides, grooms, and their entire family. I will always give all of me and go above and beyond, and this is why...... (Look at how cute Grandpa is!!!)

And then this happened. Yeah. We all know my attention is completely stolen the moment someone picks up a guitar. I am putty in the hands that can strum any Fender, Gibson, Taylor, or Alvarez. So when one of the groomsmen (who happened to be Andy's college roomate and recently moved out to Nashville for his music career) replaced the DJ for the last hour at the reception, I was floored. Not only could he play....boy could SING. I mean belt it out. A stage presence that leaves you thinking about it on your entire ride home. Write down this name: John Milstead. Check out his website, see a live show if you can. He is going somewhere, and you heard it here first. :) The entire reception could not take their eyes or ears off of him. What an amazing gift to give Andy and Jess.

So during weddings, I usually take the girls while Alicea is doing pics with the guys. Jess stopped me in my tracks as we walked down the street, and was like, "THAT POSE!!! THE ONE I SEE YOU DO ON FACEBOOK!!!! YOU HAVE TO DO IT!!!!" I was like, um...right now? Seriously? Yes, yes, she was very serious.....What my brides want, my brides get. Scorpion pose in an alley, and no yoga mat. All for you Jess!!! :) xo

One of my fav. parts of the day.....posing with my brides. :) Ps. for any future brides, I totally will be a stand-in bridesmaid if you need one. Just sayin. :)

For anyone who may not already know....a little something something about me......I am a yogi. I have done yoga for about 7 years. I started teaching about 2 years ago for fun. I made it my new years resolution to become certified. By February, I was teaching and leading other yogis from handstands to downward dogs. Months ago, I began to notice that one of my students was cooking up a little bun in the oven. I gave her my card after class and she reserved her Itty Bitty session months in advance. Here is her beautiful baby girl! Congrats Dan and Mary! And Mary....can't wait to have you back in our Monday and Thursday classes!!! :) xo

One Year Journey: Lola's 1st Birthday

One year ago, we arrived at another Itty Bitty Session. We were not only welcomed into the home of Jan and Mike, we were welcomed into their lives that day. We met and fell in love with Lola. Two weeks later, Jan's mom contacted us and wanted to surprise Jan by having me show up to document her baptism. That was not the end of it, I also continued to watch Lola grow and captured her 3 month, 6 month, 9 month, 1 year, and on this day, her 1st Birthday Party. Jan lives by the "Go big or Go Home" standard. Her Birthday Party was perfectly planned out with an entire owl theme. From her cake, to the owl pops, to the "Look Whoo's One!" cookies.....everything went together perfectly. Jan and Mike were able to sit back at the party and not have to worry about taking pictures of every little thing that they had put so much care and attention into. That is what we were there for! :) It was a milestone day seeing one of our LeLe Itty Bitties blow out her solo candle. As any parent can attest to, babies change daily during that first year. I am so happy that I was able to document their first year as a family. :) Happy Birthday Lola! :)

Meet Katie: The Love That Let us Share Our Name

Meet Katie. She is a Senior this year. She also happens to be our cousin. We grew up together.

Her mom is my Aunt Lisa. Growing up, Aunt Lisa never made me doubt how much she loved me, whether it was stopping by the places I worked for lunch when I was bartending my way through college or constantly telling me how proud I made her. Her presence, influence and encouragement makes me want to be the best person I can be. I never have had the chance to tell her before, but all of those times she made me feel invited and welcome, the times she would get me little presents, or holding me as the tears filled the empty void that seemed to suck in the words I could not seem to find when I knew no one else could understand the way she would on the first Thanksgiving after my Grandma passed meant the world to me. She is always on the go. Four kids who always need to go to some type of sporting event, dance recital, or Boy Scout event....ummm...and did I mention that she is a Pediatrician. No big deal. This superwoman does it all. That's how us Douthit's roll. :)

I can see the strength, integrity, intelligence, and manners that you have instilled through demonstration in Katie. As you can clearly see, she is beautiful and may have one of the best smiles ever. What you do not know is everything else she is. Smart. A talented dancer. So respectful of others. A go out of her way to help (especially with those 3 younger siblings). Family Oriented. Giving, and expecting nothing in return. Humble. Responsible. Loving. All of those qualities that I know must make my Aunt Lisa so proud to call Katie her daughter.

Remember I mentioned how Katie is a dancer? We went to her studio to finish up the session.....I mean seriously....how is it possible to stay up on your toes like this...!?!?!?

Senior Year: Ryan

We traveled down to the fine state of Texas to capture Ryan's senior photo session. We met at the same school he had spent the last three years. Three years full of meeting new friends, making memories, and playing baseball. Baseball is one of those things that will always hold a special place in my heart. Then Ryan told me he was a pitcher. Extra Extra Bonus Points. You see, my little brother is also a pitcher. I know the nervousness that Ryan's mom probably feels every time she watches the young man she is so proud of number 10 on that pitcher's mound. If she is anything like me when I watch my brother, I am on the edge of my seat before every pitch. There are so many things I want for him....I want that perfect curveball, that perfect high speed pitch that the batter is not going to see coming, I am hoping he doesn't throw a ball, and I am praying that no line drives are drilled straight for him. On his off days, I am wishing that I could trade places with him, and do something to help him out. I am sure Ryan's mom must feel the same way now that the man she holds so much pride in her eyes for is finishing up his last year before he heads off to college. Ryan - you and your dimple are absolutely adorable. Make sure you enjoy every day of this year in school. It will fly by and leave you looking back in disbelief that it's all really over. Keep making your mama proud. LeLe loves you. :)

Susan and Chad: Heading to the Chapel

Meet Susan and Chad. I was lucky enough in this life to meet Susan when I was 16. I shot her little brother's beautiful wedding last October. She has always had that smile that lights up a room. She is exudes love and life. When she came to me about shooting her wedding, it is hard to describe the feeling that came over my heart as anything besides humbled. I fall in love with every couple and every wedding that I shoot. I feel special every time I get that confirmation that they have decided to use LeLe. Then I have the brides that I have known for years, dear friends and people that I hold near to my heart. To know that the people that mean the world to me are entrusting me with the opportunity to capture their most important moments and details to keep and pass on....that is the kind of stuff I would never take for granted. Congrats to Susan and Chad. You both deserve a lifetime of happiness. :)

These two are huge Cardinal fans. Chad coaches high school baseball....so this is exactly where we went for their session.

Meet the Wears: Kate and Adam

"Meeting you was fate. Becoming your friend was a choice. Falling in love with you....I had no control over."

Some moments are milestones. People walk into your life. You never asked for it, you never looked for it, you just said, "Hi. My name is....." and your life was forever changed. You no longer can remember what was or understand what exactly your future holds....but you are certain something is different.

Remember walking into the unknown as you walked through the doors of your high school on that first day of your freshman year? Following your schedule, trying to look cool and look as if you know where you are going, where your locker is, and keeping a straight face through the panic of having not a clue how to unlock your lock. Eventually, you make your way to class, have a seat, look around and these are the people you are going to spend the next four years of your life with. Unbeknownst at the time, a very select and special few will remain close for a lifetime. Adam was one of the special ones in the room with Kate on her first day. Most teachers sat students alphabetically, so Kate and Adam kept ending up together. There was an instant interest in each other. The chemistry that makes you feel as if you have known this person forever. The same interests, the same friends, the same passions. Strangers turned into acquaintances, turned into friends, turned into best friends, turned into soul mates. February 9, 2002 they made the boyfriend/girlfriend thing official. July 17, 2011 they made it official forever.

I was there to witness and document the day they showed their closest family and friends how sweet this life can truly be when you allow those unknowns to walk into your life and turn into the ones you that make you forget what was important before.

Kate and Adam live in Texas. They are from Springfield, Illinois. Planning a wedding from out of town can be quite the challenge, but Kate did it flawlessly! I absolutely love my destination weddings. Shooting in new locations. Going into the unknown. There is nothing better in my opinion. :)

Planning a wedding? Here is some info and tidbits from Kate and Adam. :)
-Is there anything you recommend for other out of town brides planning their wedding? What was the most difficult thing?

I truly recommend to start planning early and to find someone local who will be there to help out! My mother and little sister were the most amazing people in helping me get everything ready and I truly could not have done it without them! I would say the hardest part was not having someone around to help with major decisions. Many nights were spent on the phone with multiple questions, texting photos and trying to be as descriptive as possible since we were miles apart!
-If you could go back to your wedding day, knowing now how the day went, is there anything you would change or suggest to other brides?

I would tell myself not to worry so much the week before the wedding! I remember thinking some of the nights before the wedding "No way we are going to get everything done" and it just makes you worry. Have no fear, Everything does get done and what doesn't, truthfully, no one can tell the difference!
-What was your favorite thing about working with US!? :)

We found out that not only do you girls take the most AMAZING photos EVER but that you girls go Above and Beyond the duties of "photographers". When I went to put my dress on, you girls were right there not only taking pictures but helping me into it and making sure every button was where it should be, every piece of tulle underneath was pulled out and that the dress fit like a glove! Also, when someone seemed stress you weren't the ones watching from a corner you were the ones asking "Is there anything we can do?". And honestly, who can't be impressed with your amazing dance moves and staying to celebrate with us until the last dance! We absolutely had the most amazing time and we are so grateful to have had you to share it with!

And there ain't no party like a LeLe party, cuz a LeLe party don't stop.........

Te Amo. Je t'aime. Ti Amo. Te quiero. Taim i' ngra leat. Ich liebe dich. No matter the language, It all comes back to that one thing.... Love. It is the universal language. One person can fall in love with one person from the other side of the world. Different languages, different cultures, different traditions, the chemistry and connection take over the power of words, logic or anything else they knew before. No words need to be spoken, because real love, real chemistry is felt. Everything else falls into place where it should.

Meet Kim and Manny. We decided to incorporate the culture of both of the backgrounds into their engagement session. We started out on Cherokee Street to showcase Manny's Mexican heritage. Bright colors, the best taco stands in town, margaritas and fun make you want to dance music. Then we made our way to The Hill. It is the Italian district in town. The Hill may only encompass a one square mile area, but when you are there, you know you are there. The aroma of authentic Italian cuisine immediately stirs up the growling in your tummy. The two cultures definitely have their little things that make them what they are, but through the differences, one things was clear. They share a passion for their family, love and life. Kim and Manny your cultural upbringings have lead you to the love I was able to capture and am so looking forward to capturing at your wedding this weekend. :)

Kristin and Nick: Mr. and Mrs.

Kristin's blue eyes said it all. She is the kind of girl who wears her heart on her sleeve. It seems like forever ago when we first captured their engagement session in Soulard. We met in what some would call a windstorm on a perfect fall day. I remember leaving that session with a smile on my heart knowing that they were my bride and groom. A LeLe bride and groom.

Kristin looked beautiful in all of her engagement pictures, but when I arrived at her hotel suite on the morning of her wedding, I realized something was different the moment she stepped into that dress. She was still that same sweet Kristin, but suddenly there was this fierceness. As the corset on her gown was carefully being laced up, I asked her to bring her eyes to me.....and that was when this fierceness struck me. She was ready to rock it out. She gave me those captivating eyes, flashed the smiles, and most importantly was Kristin. Her natural self. The Kristin she is when her and Nick are at home with no one around. In a room full of people, it was still her and I....and of course my Canon. Clearly, there was nothing on her mind aside from remaining present in the moment.

Time for the big moment. Kristin chose to have her mother and father walk her down the aisle. It was important to her to include both of them and share that long walk arm in arm with the two people who shaped her into the beautiful woman she is today. I love shooting at The Shrine of St. Joseph. It's grandiosity, beautiful detail and natural light peeking through all of the stained glass windows humble me. It is the kind of location that stops you in your tracks and takes your breath away during moments like this.......

Party time. Quentin at The Rose of the Hill kept the night as perfect and flawless as possible. We always love working with him! :) He is a guy who def. knows what he is doing and makes sure everyone is taken care of. And did I mention the food at Rose of the Hill!? It is catered by a local favorite, Favazza's. Yum.

Sister moments are the best. Sometimes I think about my childhood, my life, and the unmatched bond that I share with my sister. The kind of bond that despite our differences that make us unique individuals....it is the kind of connection that allows us to read each others minds with out saying a word, say the same thing at the same time, call each other at the same time, spend countless hours being total dorks and finding ourselves hilarious, even if no one else does. Having a sister is also knowing that you have that one person who knows everything you have been through because they went through it right by your side. She is the one person I shared my childhood with. Before I was born, she was already hugging mom's belly saying, "Sissy loves you." I often wonder how people make it through life with out a sister. When I feel the bond between the sisters during toasts, I look over at my sissy. I feel an instant connection between the bride and her sister, because I am blessed enough to be able to relate.

There are moments that I look forward to every week. I know and thank my lucky stars for how blessed I am to do what I love and love what I do. I live to do what I do because of little moments of gratification like this...... The moments where I can see in my brides eyes that what I was able to stand on the sidelines and capture is all of the love that was shared on the start of their life as one.

Favorite detail(s) that you incorporated into your wedding to make it different and unique to you and Nick?
1. We ended up making our own invitations. I am so glad we did-I was able to carry the theme through to the programs and the reception menu. Now I have the invitation framed on the wall and it is perfectly my style.
2. We chose to have a family style meal at the reception. I wanted a formal reception but I didn't want it to feel stuffy. I think the family style meal helped make that happen. Not to mention, coming from an Italian family, food is very important to us!
3. Having both of my parents walk me down the aisle. My mom and I are very close and there was no way I was going to leave her out of such a special moment.

Favorite part about working with us? "The fact that you taught us how to Dougie!! (YES!!!! RIGHT ON KRISTIN!!! <3 Ash) Seriously, though I chose LeLe because not only are your photos amazing but I knew you guys would keep the fun going. Pictures aren’t the most exciting part for the bridal party but with you guys there, it was like you were just another part of our group. By the end of the day, the wedding party fell in love with you.

I also appreciated you helping me get ready on the day of. You kept everyone rolling with the pictures and even stayed and danced at the reception. And the day-of slide-show was ahhh-mazing!!"

Katie & Danny: Getting Hitched!

Katie and Danny make my job difficult. Very, very difficult. You see, after their engagement session, I tried to narrow down some of their images while editing.....and it was nearly IMPOSSIBLE!!! They looked ridiculously good in EVERY single picture!!!!!! Seriously. It was sick. But in an oh-so-good way. :)

Their love was an energy that radiated from wherever they stood. Not only could I see and capture this love.....I could FEEL it. Their wedding is this weekend and they decided on one of our oh-so fabulous Engagement Signature Albums. They now have their most favorite images of this love fest captured in a beautiful album to keep as a beautiful piece of art in their home signed with personal and dear messages from their closest family and friends on the most important day of their lives together thus far. It is one of those things they will be able to show their kids one day and say, "Look. This is mommy and daddy before we were married. This is how it all started. This is our love story."

Another day, another LeLe baby turning one. Lola is no stranger to LeLe modeling. We have taken her Itty Bitty pics, 3 Month Pics, Baptism Pics, 6 month, 9 month, and now one year. She is a pro at the modeling stuff by now. We made her one year session extra special and headed to one of their favorite places to go as a family, The Sugar Shack in Kirkwood. This is one of my favoriteeeeeee places!!! Aside from having a slight obsession, some may call it borderline addiction to fruity candy, there is an abundance of color, natural light and they are always playing John Mayer! I enter my own personal photography mecca as soon as I walk in the doors of this place. Sometimes it takes a little sugar rush to get that creativity flowing......

"The starting point of all achievement is desire." Strong desire only creates stronger results. I give all of me in every shoot that I take on. I think it is impossible not to when you get to do something you are so passionate about on a daily basis. I become emotionally invested into my clients, their stories, and figuring out a way to truly capture the essence of the emotions that they are feeling at that exact moment in time. I make it my goal to document it in a way that whether it be 5 months or 5 years later, the moment they look at those pictures ,they are instantaneously brought back to what they were feeling at that exact moment. I am constantly planning, thinking, and trying to push myself to the next level and capture the beauty of life.

I never know when the moment is going to happen, and out of nowhere..... BAM! There it is.....That feeling. A feeling I had never really felt before and was unsure of what it was. I can remember the exact times this feeling has happened. The first time was when I was editing Kelly and Terry's wedding in October of 2009. I began looking through the images from their day, and immediately felt overwhelmed with a sense of wonder. A sense of "Did I really do this?" A feeling that is powerful enough to stop me in my tracks and immediately trigger tears that begin to well up. That moment happened again while editing this BirthStory. I took the time to stop in that humbling moment, and take time to recognize it for what it is, a milestone in my creative journey. It is what it feels like when an aspiration becomes a reality. It is everything that I have worked towards and have tried to create staring at me through my iMac screen. The realization that my vision was reached and now transcends into the next chapter of what I hold my creative standard to.

There is nothing more rewarding than witnessing my clients watch their BirthStory or see their images for the first time. They get a glimpse at the moments they may not have even realized were happening. Snippets in time they will never get back. When my clients thank me, I smile, but honestly, I feel as if it should be the other way around. I hold such gratitude towards my clients. They invite me into their lives. They allow me to witness, document and become a part of their most intimate moments. To Jen, Erik and every other client who has been a part of becoming the photographer and person I am today, shaped the artist I work towards becoming, and allowed me to dream a little bigger....I am forever thankful for you.

Sara & John: Ripe Belly

Sara and John decided to wait to find out if they were having a Mr or a Miss. I think there is nothing more exciting then not knowing and when mother and father finally see their baby and they are like what is it, what is it!!! And of course there's the excitement of the family in the waiting room with their bets made... Sara and John choose LeLe to capture the BirthStory of their first child and here is a little sneak peek of their Ripe Belly session. We started at their home and let me tell you Sara was SO prepared!!! She had the kitchen table FULL of outfits, details, props and even pictures of parks and local spots she liked. As I took their pics we chatted about possible locations for the end of their session. They mentioned a few parks and also Orange Leaf. I was like, WHAT is Orange Leaf? They informed me that it is amazing frozen yogurt and how they have a Sunday ritual in which they go there with John's truck, pick their favorite flavor of frozen yogurt, add amazing toppings and then sit on the tailgate and people watch. I immediately said, "uh yeah, we are going there!" I told them not only will these pictures be fun, they are unique to you guys and your very own little ritual. I love incorporating things that are unique because those are the moments and pictures that will remind them of the Sundays they spent together sitting on the tailgate, laughing, talking and just being together.

A Moment 9 Months in the Making: Baby Ryder

Just a little tease of the BirthStory I am currently piecing together. I am absolutely in love with everything about this couple. What is not to love?

This may be one of my fav. pics I have ever taken.

We were there for the biggest moment that these two have shared as a husband and wife. For nine months, they waited, dreamed, anticipated, and talked about this one single moment........

And it all came down to this one single moment. A moment they will never forget. This is the kind of stuff you can not get back again. This is the kind of stuff you can not re-inact. Real. Pure. Raw Emotion.

Bold as Love: Mr. and Mrs. Soon to be Hendrix

It seems like just yesterday I was meeting Jason and Jenny for the first time. I fell in love with them from the moment I met them.....and then she told me what her married name would be, and I fell in love the two of them that much more. Jenny Durham's new married name is going to be Jenny Hendrix. I mean seriously, how flipping cool is that? She will be nearly sharing a name with arguably one of the best electric guitarists and most influential musicians in musical history. LOVE IT! :) Jason and Jenny had me design an engagement signature album for their guests to leave special little notes in on their wedding day. Here is what we came up with.......
